Human Resources Specialist

This position would require a friendly but professional personality that can speak to individuals at all levels of the organization as well as the ability to handle sensitive issues in a confidential manner.


Perform professional level duties related to Human Resources, including responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, recruitment, compliance, leave administration, benefits administration, payroll/compensation and events/recognition.

This position reports directly to the CFO. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory background check and verification of work authorization through E-Verify.


Workforce Planning and Employment

  • Establish and implement a hiring process to include coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, and performing reference checks for potential hires; ensure recruitment practices are fair and consistent
  • Counsel managers on candidate selection
  • Determine best practices of recruitment using social media
  • Analyze job functions; create, draft and update job descriptions; maintain a job description library
  • Update and maintain organizational chart

Employee Relations

  • Interpret, update and implement company policies and procedures
  • Inform employees of policy changes, company events, holidays, etc.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews (recommend changes, as needed)
  • Monitor LOA, FMLA, disciplinary issues, terminations and other processes for compliance with legal and company policies
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; counsel employees and supervisors
  • Assist employees with grievance and harassment allegations

New Hire Orientations and Training Programs

  •  Implement and manage a new hire orientation program
  • Assist employees with completion of necessary new hire paperwork and benefit forms
  • Draft offer letters; assist managers in onboarding new employees

Benefit Administration

  • Administer employee benefits program; assist employees with enrollment
  • Study and assess benefit needs and trends; recommend benefit programs to management
  • Ensure compliance with COBRA and HIPPA guidelines
  • Implement events for employee recognition

Payroll and Leave Accrual

  • Prepare and maintain payroll information as required, including processing all payrolls and payments of any bonuses; prepare accounting entries
  • Monitor and track vacation and sick leave accruals
  • Manage details for three retirement plans including enrollment and deductions
  • Prepare and maintain related benefits records and reports, including leave records
  • Recommend, plan, and implement pay structure revisions
  • Perform employment verification, when requested

Compliance and Record Retention

  • Maintain personnel and payroll files, including records of payroll increases and budgets
  • Process regulatory reports and filing accurately
  • Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations that affect the organization
  • Monitor compliance with Workers’ Compensation, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and other related areas
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal/state laws and requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or other related field
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Ability to perform daily administrative tasks efficiently
  • Effective relationship building experience required to help integrate corporate culture to recently acquired entities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitive information with discretion and prudence
  • Ability to organize and maintain electronic and paper files
  • Travel required, as needed
