Accounting Financial Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing accurate and data based information on company’s profitability, solvency, stability and liquidity by researching and analyzing financial information to help make well informed decisions, write reports and monitor financial movements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Metric Development, Analysis & Reporting

Develop and track key operating metrics across functional areas of the company: fulfillment, customer service, sales, marketing, etc.

Support functional area leaders with reporting and analysis needs

Analyze variances in operating metrics and financial performance to determine drivers

Consolidate and analyze financial data considering company’s goals and financial standing

Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks

Identify trends; advise and recommend actions based on sound analysis; perform comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials   

Develop financial plan and analysis of projects to drive operational efficiency and overall positive financial performance

Financial Improvement

Improve financial status and performance by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; providing creative alternatives and recommendations
Determine cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collect operational data
Assist in drafting monthly MD&A for financial statements
Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data
Assist in driving the annual budgeting process (own the model)

Bench marking & Forecasting

Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance to develop interim financial forecasting
Develop financial models, conduct bench marking and process analysis
Identify, track, and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts
Consult with management to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making within the broadest scope

 

Policy Development

Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function
Communicate and explain processes and techniques

Other

Gain and update job knowledge to remain informed about novelty in the field
Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, business administration or another related field required
Minimum of 4 years of progressive financial and analytical experience
Demonstrated ability to identify business issues and performance opportunities
Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, information analysis, process improvement, problem solving, cost accounting, financial planning and strategy, reporting research results, quality management and requirements analysis
Advanced Excel skills to include data source linking, mapping, and pivot tables
Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Understanding of ERP systems
Strong initiative; ability to manage multiple projects and follow through to completion
Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
Excellent presentation, reporting and communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

SQL skills, relational database table structure knowledge
Hands on experience with statistical analysis
Well informed in current financial subjects, tax laws, money market and business environment
